Prerequisites
Students applying for admission must meet the following
requirements:
All applicants for admission are required to supply the college
with evidence of high school graduation, or GED completion by class
start date. An official form which students may use to request these
records from their high school is available from the Admissions Office. Application for Admission and Enrollment
To be considered for admission, prospective students
must:
Prospective students who do not have a high school diploma or GED are
referred to GED testing centers. Information pertaining to career opportunities
and the occupational outlook is available from the Admissions Office. Advanced Standing/Credit Transfer Credit for prior education is granted to incoming students if it is appropriate to the course or program in which the student has enrolled at Valley College. Students who request advanced standing are required to complete a series of tests to measure their current level of knowledge. Each test is correlated with the final test administered in a course. NOTE: Some courses require student participation and do not lend themselves to advanced standing (i.e. Practical Application and Employability Skills). A transcript or other documentation of previous education may be required for review by the Director and in individual cases may be accepted in lieu of testing. Students interested in obtaining advanced standing should contact the Admissions Representative prior to the first day of class. Veterans Administration regulations require veterans with prior related education and training to take advanced standing tests. The student's training period at the school and tuition will be reduced accordingly. |
